More than 25 racing mowers from New South Wales and Queensland are expected for the two days of racing at the Kempsey Showground. Both days begin around 10am. This event will bring a number of people into the Kempsey area for the long weekend.
The mower racing club was established around 10 years ago and meet at the Kempsey Showground to hold their monthly club races. There youngest member James Southwell is 12 years old. The club's senior member, well let's just say you're never to old to race.
March saw the club members travel to Shepparton Victoria to compete in July. Three Kempsey Mower Club members competed at the Farser Coast Mower Races in Merybrough, QLD, where James Southwell was the youngest racer and competed against the adults to take second in D class, and third in the 'All-In' race. Ashley Southwell took out third in C class.
Building on their success, the racers travelled to Sandy Hollow Charity Motorfest, where James Southwell took out first in C class racing against adults as well as first in the junior class. Ashley Southwell took out first in B class.
You won't believe how fast these things go. You really need to see this racing to believe it!
