The night featured 82 attendees from both sides of the mic and our spectacular 82nd anniversary reunion cakes were the creation of former 1970s staff member, Di Mills.
Elder statesman of the announcing ranks in attendance was the Gold Coast's Russ Walkington, a 2KM announcer from the early 1950s.
He's still heard on-air via Community Radio in Queensland.
Country music radio legend Nick Erby featured via video on the big screen and paid tribute to both the early talent of Slim Dusty and the role 2KM via Manager Rex Morrisby and Announcer Tom Crozier played in launching the long, successful career of Slim Dusty.
The 2KM-2MC era was summarised eloquently on the night by Announcer Guy Ashby, highlighting the great contribution of people attending including announcer/news director John O'Dea, Chief Engineer Darrel Woolnough and general manager the late Jeff Condron.
Organiser of the night Ian Wright from South Australia, an announcer from 1971, has recommended people check out the 2KM-2MC Facebook page for comment, photos and videos of the night.
The local Rural Fire Service will benefit from the raffle proceeds and anticipated sales of a forthcoming photo/video package from the night.
"Keep checking out Facebook page for the latest," Mr Wright said.
Ian's parting comment was: "The creative, community spirit of the eccentric but loveable 2KM general manger, the late Bernie Harte, was there on the night in spades".
