Set in a beautiful garden on the Mid North Coast, this wonderfully illustrated book tells the story of a unique Australian insect's search for love and acceptance.
The book launch of this book is being held at Douglas Vale Historic Homestead and Vineyard at Port Macquarie on Saturday, at a Garden Party Open Day in conjunction with National Gardening Week 2019.
The theme for National Gardening Week is 'Children in Gardens 'and author, Kay Morrison and illustrator, Liz Kent, decided that Douglas Vale would be the ideal venue to release their book.
The book release includes a colouring-in competition conducted among local schools, where finalist entries will be displayed on the day and the winners awarded their prizes.
There will also be an opportunity for children to complete a treasure hunt to find the 'Giant Prickly Stick Insect' hidden in the grounds. Each child who completes the hunt and records the clues will receive a prize.
The students of Stuarts Point Primary School were recently given a sneak preview of the book, when Kay and Liz visited the school to disclose and discuss their backgrounds in writing and illustrating.
The book will be on sale for $12 at the Garden Party Open Day from 9.30am until 2.30pm. Why not come along and enjoy the festivities of the day and find out for yourself what the book is all about.
