Rovers, who won the toss and opted to bat, weren't able to build momentum at the crease as their batsmen earned starts but weren't able to absorb pressure and record a large total.
Lachlan Dowling top scored for Rovers with 24 and captain Ethan Dowling is hopeful his side's batting performance will improve next week.
"We won the toss and batted but we didn't score enough runs to properly challenge Wingham," Ethan told the Argus.
"We needed to be better with the bat. We had a couple of starts but couldn't go on with it."
Hopefully we can put a competitive total on the board next week.
"I was happy we almost batted the overs but we need to score more runs."
Ethan credited his bowlers for not giving up and attempting to produce a victory from an unlikely position.
"The bowlers did well for having to defend such a small total," Ethan said.
"Harry Nemme picked up a wicket while Dan Wade bowled really well for no wickets."
Rovers went into the contest full of confidence after a first up victory over the defending champions United.
However, Wingham, who narrowly missed last year's grand final, are expected to be a top team in the competition this season.
Wingham won their only other match this season against Taree West.
