An important part of this koala conservation program is to educate children on the threats facing this special species.
Six schools from the Macleay Valley joined 19 other schools in participating in this successful project led by Tacking Point Lions Club
Each school had to design a strategy on 'how to protect koalas' and design a koala sculpture representing their school's colours.
The best koala sculpture design went to Herons Creek Public School. The sculptures are currently on display for the public at Kempsey Shire Library until Thursday, November 7.
