This year the Kempsey Cup has welcomed horse racing fans James and Marian all the way from the UK.
"We came to the area visiting family, we have a new grandchild to meet," Marian said.
"We decided to take the afternoon off and enjoy some horse racing, we watched the Melbourne Cup earlier in the week, and we got all revved up to see another race," James said.
As everyone is no doubt aware, the weather is hot today, and there is a lot of smoke in the air, but the conditions didn't daunt the overseas visitors.
"We are embracing everything Australia is throwing at us; this is our first taste of Australian horse racing, it's a great time, it's real," Marian said.
There will be many bets over the day, and many punters have a system that they swear by, but James is more interested in enjoying himself.
"We are going to sit out the first race and bet on the second; we are here for a bit of fun," he said.
