Organised by Kempsey Shire Council in partnership with the Kempsey Macleay Photographic Club, the competition is designed to celebrate local seniors and acknowledge the many ways they contribute to our community.
Council's Marketing and Seniors Librarian, Mary Williams, said the winners, finalists and selected entries from the competition will be used for special exhibitions throughout the 2020 Macleay Seniors Festival and to promote future senior's festival events and programs.
"We are hoping to get a variety of different photos that capture how Macleay seniors live. They could be photographed enjoying a hobby, volunteering their time or simply out and about enjoying our Valley, the choice is yours," Ms Williams said.
"Each photo must include at least one person aged 55 or over who resides in the Macleay Valley. If the location forms a major part of the photo, it must be somewhere within the Macleay."
A selection panel from the Kempsey Macleay Photographic Club, 2020 Macleay Seniors Festival committee and council will assess all the submissions.
Finalists will be announced in January 2020, and the winners announced on February 1, 2020.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three photos, with special prizes for the best photo by a senior, best photo by a school student, and a People's Choice Award.
