NORTEC began training and preparing local Cherish Major for employment at the beginning of the year and the 19-year-old quickly became the leading candidate for a retail position.
An opportunity opened up for Cherish when a sales assistant role became available when Michael McHattan expanded his North South West Office Technology business into Kempsey three months ago.
When Mr McHattan decided to tap into the Kempsey market, he contacted AES and discussed an opportunity to hire for a full-time sales assistant at his business.
AES got in touch with NORTEC and Cherish's resume was sent to Mr McHattan and an interview was arranged.
Cherish excelled in the interview, was offered the sale assistant position and has been working full-time for the past 12-weeks.
Mr McHattan has been very impressed with Cherish and plans to continue to offer her more training to develop her sales skills.
"I am very reliant on her at this store, she's here on her own a lot of the time and she does very well," he said.
"Cherish turns up every day ready to rip in."
Cherish claims NORTEC educated her on employment, while AES opened the door for her to find full-time work.
"AES and NORTEC gave me more confidence to go out and do things on my own," Cherish told the Argus.
"My skills have improved in a lot of areas and it has helped me excel in my job."
The new store in Kempsey is open 7am to 5pm on Monday to Thursday and 7am to 4.30pm on Friday.
