The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked to Crescent Head after reports a woman had fallen at a private residence and suffered a serious head injury.
Local Ambulance paramedic officers treated the woman on scene before she was taken by road to Port Macquarie Airport, where the patient was met by the Helicopter Critical Care Medical Team.
The woman was further stabilised before being flown direct to the John Hunter Hospital at Newcastle in a critical condition.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopters operate from three bases in the region - at Belmont Airport (Newcastle), Lismore Airport and Tamworth Airport. Deep maintenance, engineering and administration are at Broadmeadow (Newcastle).
