Trial Bay Marine Rescue unit commander Phil Hartley is preparing for another busy summer in the region and claims the new facility will help them be well prepared for rescues.
"It gets pretty busy in summer, we have been run off our feet at times but we always find a way to manage," Hartley told the Argus.
"But the new training facility allows us to be even more prepared. It has already helped us train volunteers and it will continue to do so."
Attempting to train new volunteers in the Trial Bay Marine Rescue base proved close to impossible as the building would be overcrowded while usual patrol would be taking place.
The new building allows for the proper training to take place and is often used as a briefing station.
Mr Hartley said the Marine Rescue is always looking for new volunteers and they can be involved in a range of different tasks.
"We are always looking for new volunteers that can help us with administration, fundraising, boat and jetski crew and of course radio operators," he said.
Trial Bay Marine Rescue paid for the construction of the training facility with their own funds and successful grants.
