The day will kick off at 7am with all of the classic and vintage vehicles registering for the Shannons Show N Shine at the Slim Dusty Centre before they make their way into Kempsey at 9am for the street parade. The Shannons Insurance Show N Shine static display will begin at 9am near LJ Hooker and the crazy day sales will get underway at the same time.
"A lot of feedback that we got from last year was the positive response to the Show N Shine and the events planned for Smith St, but a lot of people and retailers said it just wasn't long enough," organiser of the Christmas Festival Belinda Fowler said.
"So this year we have made the event a lot bigger and extended the hours."
Smith St will be closed from 8am to 3pm for the Shannons Show N Shine and crazy day sales.
"Shannons will also have the Red Point Drag Car parked near LJ Hooker and will be doing fire ups throughout the day."
Live music will also be on offer for locals who make their way to the crazy day sales as well as a performance by Danae Cantwell School of Dance at 10am, Beaux Laidy fashion show, a dog show at 1pm and the Show N Shine award presentation at 1.30pm.
"We tested the waters last year with the Show N Shine and had some really positive feedback and the dog show will be heaps of fun for the community, we're encouraging people to dress up their dogs in Christmas outfits. All of the money from the dog show will be going to the Friends of Kempsey Pound," Belinda said.
"There will be a jumping castle, face painting, and Kempsey Rotary will be having a sausage sizzle to raise funds for the local RFS, so there will be something for everyone."
The Christmas cheer doesn't end there, with the Riverside Twilight markets kicking off at Riverside Park at 3pm.
170 stalls will be set up along the river including delicious street food and gourmet dishes.
"There will be everyone's favourite stalls and some new ones as well," Belinda said.
"The entertainment we are going to have on the main stage at the markets will be The Vault and we're going to have vintage speed boat demonstrations, a magic show, a performance by Danae Cantwell, a free photo booth and face painting."
Santa himself will be arriving at the markets on an SES boat at 4.30pm.
"Santa will be handing out lollies and the speed boat show will be really exciting for locals to watch the display."
This year for the first time the night will end with an incredible Christmas inspired laser light and sound show.
"We have decided not to go with fireworks in the wake of the bush fire disasters. The laser show will be amazing and shouldn't be missed," Belinda said.
