Rovers earned a 14 run victory over the Port Macquarie Pirates in their first clash, as Mitch Korn (59 not out) and Kurt Prosper (39) helped their side set a total of 133.

Jackson Korn and Lachlan Munday each picked up a wicket as they restricted the Pirates to 6/119.

However, Rovers felt heartbreak at the end of their next game as they were defeated by the Port City Magpies on the final ball.

All-rounder Matt Scott said it was a tough pill to swallow.

"They won off the last ball which was heartbreaking, it was a nail biting last few overs and it could have gone either way with wickets falling," Scott said.

The Rovers had set a total of 150 for the Magpies to chase and they surpassed the mark with the final ball and with no wickets to spare.

Scott blamed a slow start for their defeat.

"The game was frustrating both with the bat and ball," he said.

"We got off to a really slow start with the bat but Josh Swan and Jackson Korn batted well at the end to help us."

Scott claims the side enjoyed playing the shorter format match and admits there is plenty of learning to be done from both games ahead of this Saturday.
