A man with stab wounds has been transported from Kempsey Hospital to John Hunter Hospital by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

The 21-year-old presented to Kempsey Hospital suffering multiple stab wounds to his upper body yesterday afternoon.
Shortly before 6pm yesterday (Monday December 9), a man was driven to hospital by his partner and was treated by staff for multiple stab wounds to his chest and back.
He was then airlifted to John Hunter Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Officers from Mid North Coast Police District were notified and attended the hospital.
Inquiries then led police to establish a crime scene at a carpark on Smith Street, Kempsey.
Detectives have commenced inquiries and would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information that could assist.
