The committee is seeking contact from descendants of John Brown/Long and Matilda Goodchild Betts. They particularly want contact from Elizabeth Brown/Long and James Brown's descendants.
They are building the family tree and would like to ensure they have all living descendants' names included. An expression of interest form is being circulated as an open invitation along with a Brown/Long family tree with the first three generations listed, so that descendants can look at the tree and hopefully identify a grandparent, great grandparent or great, great grandparent.
The form and family tree can be obtained by contacting Ellen Brown, 27 Sherana Pl, Port Macquarie, NSW 2444, calling 6581-1728 or emailing ellenbrown17@optusnet.com.au.
The committee also has a huge number of old family photos from family members. The committee has also accessed the McNeil Photo Collection at Macleay River Historical Society and Museum and wants contact from older members of the family to try to put names to the faces.
The main reunion day - the Easter Saturday - will be family friendly with activities for children and period clothes to dress up in.
John Brown/Long and Matilda Goodchild Betts were one of the Macleay's pioneering families who settled and lived in Euroka, near Kempsey.
The committee needs to hear from descendants now so that everyone can be included in the the Brown/Long family tree for the book.
