Dangle a line from the Urunga boardwalk and snag some bream, or catch a wave at the patrolled beach at Hungry Head.
Bellingen is a great spot for shopping, especially for one-off gifts and local produce.
While in the shire visit some of the other hamlets, such as Mylestom, at the mouth of the Bellinger River, and Sawtell, known for its avenue of 70-year-old fig trees lining First Avenue.
Don't forget to stow your rubbish when leaving. The locals are proud of the area's natural beauty and are keen to keep it pristine for future generations.
