As part of pharmacy's 35th birthday celebrations, Peters wife Trudi suggested a fundraiser with proceeds going to the RFS.
The fundraiser was organised with the help from the local Lions Club volunteers and members from the South West Rocks RFS.
The Lions Club, with help from Milton Matthews, joined in on the project to do the cooking and generously handed over a Lions cheque for $1000 to the appeal.
Shoey's bakery supplied the bread and a cake and Balls Butchery donated the sausages.
The RFS handed out red plastic fire helmets and advice leaflets on bushfire prevention and survival, with many visitors and locals donating well in addition to their $2 sausage sandwich which raised $2000.
RFS brigade captain Ross Hudson and RFS volunteers were "blown away" by the success of the sausage sizzle. They were especially thankful for the $3000 which was raised. The money will go towards helping upgrade RFS equipment.
