Ms Wong, who has also taken on the responsibility of Deputy Coordinator for the Hastings Macleay Clinical Network, joins the Mid North Coast Local Health District with a range of experience in the health and legal sectors.
Most recently, Ms Wong was the Director of Integrated Care and Allied Health with the Lower Mid North Coast Sector of the Hunter New England Local Health District.
After studying Social Work and Psychology at the University of Sydney, Ms Wong began her career at Manly Hospital before moving to the then Department of Community Services (DoCS).
Working at DoCS ignited her passion for child advocacy and social justice, leading to a law degree and a position at the NSW Obudsman's Office.
Ms Wong also spent time working for the Attorney General's Department, based in Sydney, before making the sea change to the Mid North Coast.
Canadian-born Ms Wong has replaced her first love of ice hockey for surfing, often taking time out to hit the waves with her husband at local beaches.
She has spent her first month at Kempsey meeting staff from the multidisciplinary team and finding her way around the Health Campus.
"It has been an absolute privilege to join the Mid North Coast Local Health District, particularly the Hastings Macleay Clinical Network," she said.
"The passionate and dedicated staff at Kempsey Health Campus have made me feel very welcome and I look forward to working with staff across the Clinical Network to support them to provide the best care to our community."
Ms Wong is also enjoying working with the site's dedicated volunteers and is looking forward to partnering with members of the Macleay Valley Community to continue to provide quality healthcare into the future.
