I contacted the Kempsey Police at about 6pm on a Thursday night when a van was setting up and was asked to ring back in about three hours if they were still there.

I rang at 9, as they hadn't moved, and was told a patrol car would deal with it. The van was still there in the morning and left quite early. The following night it returned. I rang the police again and basically was told, there was nothing they could do about it, which was not what I was told the night before. Obviously nothing had been done.

I then contacted a member of the Kempsey council who confirmed, there was nothing that could be done.

Facts.

The vans that generally have parked here have no toilet facilities.

We have had up to three parked here overnight.

This problem can only get worse if it's not addressed now.

There is a health issue here.

Obviously, there is nothing I can do about this, but I would like to ask a question.

If campervans without toilet facilities started camping overnight outside the council offices and the police station leaving rubbish and defecating and urinating on the footpath, would you throw your arms in the air and admit to yourselves as you have to me that there is not a damn thing you can do about it?

Earlier this year I fronted the Kempsey council on an unrelated matter and was asked if I held the council responsible for what was happening to Crescent Head. I replied that I didn't, but I would hold them responsible for what happens in the future.

This is the future. Kempsey police, with the council, you have a responsibility, that you really need to take very seriously and immediately.
