Kempsey Crescent Head are the seven-time defending champions of the overall competition but club captain Scott Edwards admits this season has a more casual feel to it.
"With the changes the series has gone through and a few less members, there's definitely a more social and less competitive feeling this season," Edwards told the Argus.
"We are all still enjoying our boating but I think this will be a bit of a get through the season year for us before we rip back into it properly next season."
Despite a transitional year, the Crescent Head Masters 160s have been putting on a show as they lead the way with a perfect four wins from as many rounds.
The Masters Men are also in first place as they have two wins and two seconds from their four rounds of competition.
The Open Men are in fourth position and have recorded three thirds and a fourth.
The Open Women, who missed the opening round, have surged up the leader board with two seconds and a third. They are in fourth position but are within striking distance.
The reserve men are in second spot with two seconds and two thirds.
