Kempsey's Lyle Cronin has been announced as the winner of the Celebrating the Face of Ageing Photo Competition for his delightful photo of Peggy Laws and Margaret Thomson.
The 'Llama Ladies' were part of a special outing organised by Parkland's Cottage to visit the llamas on Airport Rd, Aldavilla.
Kempsey RSL Photographic Club Secretary Mark Townsend and Kempsey Library's Marketing and Seniors Librarian Mary Williams were on hand at Parklands Cottage on Friday to present Lyle with his first prize, a fabulous Sennheiser Flex 5000 Digital Wireless Audio System worth $350 donated by Hearing Australia.
"We have been overwhelmingly impressed with the quality of this year's entries and were impressed with the way in which seniors from all over the shire were represented," Ms Williams said.
Second prize was taken out by Brenda Foster from Fishermans Reach for her photo of Shirley Nicholson and Ruby Kirk 'Getting Crafty' at Parklands Cottage. Brenda won a lovely hat donated by West Kempsey Post Office.
The competition's third prize was awarded to Peggy Laws from South West Rocks for her image of the Parklands group at the llama farm. Peggy received a pen set donated by West Kempsey Newsagency.
The prize winners were selected by a judging panel including representatives from the Kempsey Photographic Club, Kempsey Shire Council and Macleay Seniors Festival organising committee.
The judges thanked the prize sponsors and commended the efforts of the competition's partners, singling out the efforts of Karen Vick from Parklands Cottage for organising numerous outings around the Macleay Valley with her clients and encouraging them to participate in the competition.
The winning entries will be on display at Kempsey Library during the Macleay Seniors Festival from February 11 to 23. The 2020 Macleay Seniors Festival will kick off on Tuesday with a jam-packed Seniors Expo at the Slim Dusty Centre on from 10am to 2pm.
Residents are invited to come along and enter the draw to win some fantastic lucky door prizes, including an Akubra hat, $100 voucher, $50 L-Bo butchery voucher and a host of other prizes.
