President of the Macleay Valley Cricket Association, Carlos Peters, encourages sports fans and spectators alike to come along, because the opportunity may not come again.
"This is the first time the Baggy Blues Cricket Tour is coming to Kempsey, organised in conjunction with the Macleay Valley Cricket Association; the event offers a great opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the best current and past players," he told the Argus.
"We were lucky enough to be selected to be on this years tour, and it may not come here again for a while, it's a rare opportunity."
Guest former players and ambassadors who are coming include Steve Rixon, Len Pascoe, Phil Emery, Phil Marks, Gavin Robertson, and John Dyson.
While current Sydney players Chris Green, Ben Dwarshuis, Chad Sammut, Ryan Hackney, Ben Manenti and Param Uppal will all be there as well.
The event will start with a meet and greet on Wednesday, February 19, at the Kempsey Macleay RSL, from 6:30 pm, at the cost of $15 a head.
Thursday, February 20 will have a free breakfast from 7 am and provide another chance to meet the stars.
A coaching clinic will follow at Jim Stirling oval from 4:30 pm until 6 pm and then a very special T20 match.
"The Coaching Clinic is for kids, and the baggy blues have advised that they have two kits to give away on the day for one lucky boy and girl," Peters said.
"The Thursday night game will be the first-ever played in Kempsey under the lights at Jim Stirling oval and feature the baggy blues and our local first grade players, come along and show your support."
Aside from providing a chance to meet cricket stars, the Baggy Blue Cricket Tour hopes to deliver messages of the importance of mental health and well being to rural communities.
Partnered with the Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMHP), the tour combines the influence and profile of the Baggy Blues with RAMHP's capacity to deliver messages of the importance of mental health and well being to rural communities.
