Women were invited to enjoy morning tea, participate in craft workshops and to connect with one another.
Program manager of Melville Girls Academy Robyn Townsend said the event was held to encourage women in the community to connect and to allow the Girls Academies to host an event.
"It's all about bringing women in our community together from all areas of the valley," she said.
"We thought it would be a great opportunity for both Girls Academies to organise the event together."
The Gilrs Academy is a community led program and provides much needed support to give girls the tools to help them achieve at school, finish Year 12 and go one to further study or career pathways.
"We work with a number of organisations in the area to support the girls education so they are engaged in school, improve their attendance and advance in their academic education," Robyn said.
"We want to be able to empower young ladies to be strong women."
There are 65 girls in the Melville Girls Academy while at Kempsey High, 68 girls are involved.
"Creating connections between women in the community and girls in the program will help them build resilience and further themselves in all areas of their lives."
Around 60 women attended the morning tea today, ahead of International Women's Day on March 8.
Program manager of Kempsey Girls Academy Juli Morris said the work the girls put into organising the day was amazing.
"I'm very proud of the girls for organising today's event and thank you all for setting it up and putting on a lovely morning tea for everyone," she said.
