The Macleay Valley Business Chamber has extended their support and encouragement to all businesses and community members in the Macleay Valley following the announcement earlier this week that a number of businesses will close due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The Chamber has said they will stand behind all businesses in the community, not just those who are members of the Chamber.
"We want people to know that we are here to speak with, and to help people through this very difficult time however we can, regardless of whether they're a member or not," President of the Macleay Valley Business Chamber Scott Marsh said.
"We are a small community and we know that now is the time that we all have to stand together and help each other."
The impact of COVID-19 is being felt across the whole Mid North Coast, with nine cases now confirmed in the region. The impacts are also being felt by a number of businesses in the Macleay.
"At no other time has it been so imperative that everyone in our community does their utmost to support local business, to help keep them sustainable for as long as possible," Mr Marsh said.
"We want to avoid buying or ordering things from outside of the region wherever we can. We urge people to check with your local suppliers and reach out to them first. If they can help you, they will.
"We also encourage everyone to follow all official health guidelines from our Governments' at National, State and Local levels at all times and avoid listening to hearsay that can create unnecessary panic and distress."
Mr Marsh also recommends all businesses take advantage of the Federal Government assistance packages.
"These packages are there to support businesses and employees so that can we work towards a sustainable future by the time we reached the end of this current health crisis," he said.
"I would also like to call on all businesses and members of our community to look out for those around them that are more vulnerable and see what they can do to support those people."
