The Crescent Head Country Club is starting a coordinated effort by club staff and local businesses to offer a home delivery service for the more vulnerable members of Crescent Head.
The service allows people to place and pay for orders over the phone with local businesses, with Crescent Head Country Club staff delivering the orders the following day (the day after order is placed). Orders will be placed in a bag or box at the front door step so there will be no need for members of the high-risk category to leave their home and interact.
Colan Ryan from Crescent Head Country Club said the club has always been there to support the community, and this time is no different.
"The club has been around for 64 years and it has always been the heart and soul of the community," he said.
"When we're in times of need, the club puts the community ahead of everything else."
There will be no cost of the home delivery service, with Crescent Head Country Club staff volunteering their time to make the deliveries. Customers are encouraged to thank staff by waving from behind their windows, there is no need to thank them in person.
"The staff at the club have always prided themselves with serving the community and it will also be good for their well-being. A lot of businesses have had to put off staff, this is a time where the community needs to be coming together."
The businesses involved in the coordinated effort are:
- Crescent Head Foodworks - 6566 0066
- Crescent Head Bakery - 6566 0370
- Crescent Head Pharmacy - 6566 0908
"It really is a team effort to get this going," Colan said.
Locals can start placing their orders with the participating businesses today, with the first deliveries starting on Friday, March 27. Deliveries are expected to arrive between 9am and 11am.
"We will all get through this and in the meantime the club will support locals. If there are further things we can do to help, please reach out to us."
If any vulnerable person has any specific requirements or for further information they can call Renee McClintock on 0477 660 268 between 8.30am and 4.00pm.
