The 139th Kempsey Show would have been held yesterday, April 21 and today, April 22.
In a post to the Kempsey Showgirl Competition Facebook page yesterday, 2019 Showgirl Keely Lawrence expressed her sadness at the cancellation.
"Today (April 21) I would have been getting all of the wonderful 2020 entrants involved with our show before the announcement of the new place holders tonight," Keely said in the post.
"It is unfortunate that after all our community has been through the past year we cannot hold our show; something I know the committee hoped would be a great morale booster for the Macleay."
The Macleay Argus spoke to President of the Kempsey Show Society Donna Clarke in March when the show was cancelled.
"If we're able to, we will move forward and do something for the community in September. But if not, all of our effort will be going towards planning the 2021 Kempsey Show and how we can make it bigger and better," she said at the time.
We have had a look back at our stories from the 2019 Kempsey Show and have put together a gallery from last year. Have a look at the photos the Macleay Argus took last year in the gallery above.
