Club president Ben Bailey was forced to close the venue after receiving instructions from Tennis Australia, but the restrictions do have one allowance.
"The club is closed for now, but the courts are still available for a social game for singles, a maximum of two people per court," he said.
"We have nine courts, so there is plenty of room for players to social distance. There is also a hitting wall if you are really desperate for a hit but can't find a partner.
"There are exceptions for families; multiple people can play on the courts if they all from the same household.
"Everyone please follow the social distancing, and bring your own equipment. Unfortunately, the club itself is closed, so certain regular facilities aren't available for use."
The local club has seen some significant changes in the last few months, and Bailey plans to keep the momentum going when it reopens.
"Before the virus hit, things were starting to pick up, the courts have just been regenerated, and they are looking the best they have in years," Bailey said.
"We have no firm date on when we will be able to reopen, but we already have plans to resume our social tennis day on Thursdays and add a nighttime slot on Wednesdays.
Anybody interested in testing out the new courts can contact the Facebook Page, "Kempsey Tennis Club incorporated."
Or send a message to the club's phone on 0423 337 745.
Please be patient, and try to book a day in advance to ensure a spot.
