"There was an older club already in the area, but they've been quiet the last few years, so we decided to restart a maintain biking club and reopen the trails for a new generation," he said.
"We are hoping to promote, encourage and develop the sport of mountain biking in the Macleay Valley and provide social rides and races."
COVID-19 has ravaged most of the sports in the region, with only a handful still able to operate, albeit with severe restrictions.
The Macleay Valley Mountain Bikers have not been immune to restrictions, but they are one of the lucky few still able to operate.
"Before COVID-19 we had a regular Saturday afternoon social ride for all skill levels that would start and finish at the Kempsey Golf Club," Garcia said.
"Unfortunately, that's on hold at the moment, but the trails are still open and our members can still ride, as long as they adhere to social distancing and group rules, we can only ride two at a time."
Anybody interested in joining the Macleay Valley Mountain Bikers can head over to Mountain Bike Australia at www.mtba.org.au and fill out a membership form.
Alternatively, if you'd like to learn more about the local club, go to their Facebook page at "Macleay Valley Mountain Bikers" and send them a message or leave a comment.
"We are always happy to welcome new members; it's always a good time to join," Garcia said.
"We can't do all the things we usually do, many of our competitions and group social rides have been postponed, but riding is a great way to keep fit and get out in the fresh air."
"The club is inclusive, and we can accommodate adaptive mountain biking and hand cycles, we have been working on widening several trails.
"At the moment we are really looking for some keen younger members to join, and keep the club going well into the future."
