THE HISTORIC Valla Hall - a long-held gathering place for the local community - is getting a makeover.
That's thanks in part to a successful application for a building grant by the Valla Hall Committee.
The grant has enabled construction of a new storage shed built adjacent to the hall. This work is now well underway.
Other significant Valla Hall maintenance includes the replacement of the original 1907 gable end hardwood weatherboard timbers with new matched weatherboards supplied from Coffs Harbour Hardwoods.
And all the veranda timber balustrading to the deck area and awning beams and posts will be repainted.
Valla rural tradespersons have been engaged for all construction and painting.
The Valla Hall Committee is made up of local residents who continue to be active in promoting the facility as a superb rural option for wedding celebrations, dances, entertainment and local user groups.
