All NSW travel restrictions were lifted on June 1, allowing holidays anywhere in the state, and plenty of visitors took advantage with our local businesses experiencing the rush usually seen during the Christmas and New Years break.
"It was great to see tourists returning to the shire over the Queen's Birthday long weekend," Kempsey Shire Mayor Liz Campbell, said.
"The visitor numbers reported across all our popular spots, from Crescent Head and South West Rocks to Gladstone and Bellbrook were at peak Christmas holiday season levels."
The Macleay has frequently been recognised as a great holiday destination, the beaches and food venues rate particularly high with visitors.
