With Kempsey Cannonballs withdrawing their Senior, Juniors and Women's teams from all competitions several weeks ago and Port Macquarie not being able to field 1st and Reserve Grade teams due to low playing numbers, following their Head Coach quitting a few weeks ago.
This left three clubs, Coffs Harbour, SCU and Hastings Valley in the senior grades.
A three team "TRI-SERIES" type 1st Grade Competition and a four team Reserve Grade Competition with Bowraville included was proposed.

Both Coffs Harbour and SCU were both enthusiastic and fully support the proposal.
However, Hastings Valley have advised the Zone that they are not interested in this format and are withdrawing their 1st Grade, Reserve Grade and Women's Teams, a disappointing outcome for MNCRU along with this year being the Vikings 25th Anniversary.

Hastings Valley have also advised they are having a meeting on Monday to discuss whether their junior teams will play this year.
Both Coffs Harbour and SCU have advised they will endeavour to play in either the FNC or New England Competitions as they feel responsible for getting all their players a game of Rugby.
The MNCRU fully support both clubs in their decision.
The MNCRU appreciates the clubs and volunteers who support Rugby on the MNC as sacrifices have to be made at times and not just excuses.
