With Winter well and truly here for 2020 the players at the Kempsey Golf Club last Saturday had a taste of the cold weather when they stepped onto the 1st tee for the 2020 Winter Cup sponsored by the Kempsey Macleay RSL Club.

The event of the day was the 18 hole Single Stroke event for the Monthly Medals in each grade and with the cup up for grabs there was another outstanding field of 93 players.
Local members on the day were visitors from Frederickton, Crescent Head, SWR, Chaalambar and Emerald Downs Golf clubs.

The Winter Cup went to the best player on the day in the net score section and with the course in tip top condition and a bit soft after the afternoon storm on Friday the scores were good.
A big thank you goes to the RSL for there sponsorship of the day.
Taking out the Winter Cup for 2020 was John Henry after his net score of 68 held up all day after his early morning round.
John who has just started playing had a 3 shot margin over his nearest rival.
Congratulations John on your win and let's hope next years event is great as well.
Taking out the 'A' grade medal for July was Ross Leopold with a net 71 and in the 'By grade the winner of the Medal was Rod Kinnear with his net 75 and with his net 68 Henry was the Club grade winner of the Medal.
In the 'A' grade the runner up player was Brad Cooper with 73 and in the 'B' grade Scotty Bill Williams was the runner up on 75 net.
With John Henry the Winter Cup winner the Cup grade winner was Ryan Morrison with a net 71 and Mitch Starr with a net 73 was the runner up.
With the Club Championship's just around the corner next month James Benson was in good form to win the 'A' grade gross with a 2 over par round of 74 while it was Rod Kinnear in Big with a 90 and Ryan Morison in China with a round of 92.
With the NTPs back this week the winners at the 3rd hole were Brad Cooper 'A', Tony May 'B', Ryan Morrison 'C', Gail Simon 'C'.
At the 8th hole the winners were Hillary Dew 'A', Luke Morris 'C'. The winners on the 11th hole were Dean Greenhalgh 'A', Kevin Hopping 'By, Bert Quinlan 'C'.
On the tough 16th hole the winners on Saturday were BRADLEY Dyet 'A', Steve Bates 'By.
The SUPER TEE ntp was back on the 18th hole and the winner this week was Ross Leopold.
In the weekly ball competition the winners were players with a net score of 77 on a countback and they can be collected from the pro shop at the club anytime along with any unclaimed vouchers from the event.
Tomorrow at the club the Members and visitors will hit off from 7am in the Open 18 hole Single Stableford event and all intending players wishing to play can book in now at the club or go online to book in for your round. All players are reminded to play with in the COVID19 rules and please remember to avoid slow play at all times and remember to carry a bucket and replace your divots.
Another reminder to all Members that the 2020 Club Championships will be held in August with the 1st round on Saturday August 1st.
