The group has taken its namesake from her late brother, who Christine says was the original driving force behind the idea.
"My brother was studying to be a pastor in jail, when he was released he wanted to create a youth group for the younger generation so that they wouldn't end up jail as well," she told the Argus.
"It was his passion, and I want to help make his dream a reality, that's why I've called it the David Dungay Jnr Youth Group."
The plans for the youth group are still in the early stages, but Christine hopes that over the next few weeks, she can find sponsors among the community to aid in the endeavour.
"We will be providing workshops for getting the kids back to school, self-hygiene, counselling and cooking classes plus outdoor activities such as camping, fishing and sporting activities," she said.
"I'm really striving to work my hardest for the youth, so they don't feel alone and lost so they will always have somewhere to go.
"Most importantly, we are working to close the gap on racism within our youth in Kempsey; this group is for all youth from all walks of life."
