If you "kick goals" - so to speak - whilst playing the Kempsey Veterans Golf Club's game or all other courses, all or any a player does suffer somewhat at the hands of the handicapper.

Take A-grader Trevor Bailey on Tuesday last for example, for this cacky or left-hander a week prior had majestically produced a 1-over par 57 whilst participating with a partner in a 14-hole 2BBB Stableford.
He was responsible for all but four of the 44 points that he and his partner had returned for an easy claim to victory. Club rules ruled him out of a double take and a deduction in handicap could not be averted.

From 13 to 10 figures courtesy of the handicapper appeared on the listings as soon as this very capable golfer arrived at the starter's box to nominate for a normal stableford (so to speak).
And bingo...this Gladstone-based member these days made it a back-to-back receiving of that victory voucher. Doubled his money in quick time one could reckon.
Blow the handicapper, what's three strokes matter, eh!
It was B-grader Brian Stringer the best of all 34 starters with a 33-point round, however he did have to survive a countback with Terry Hyland for that honour.
Both members are from the Upper Macleay reaches, Brian from Deep Creek and Terry a Moparrabah citizen and one thinks that information is worthy of mention. A promotion in grade is staring both in the face (so to speak).
The Devil himself, our handicapper Peter Mercer, who hails from Port Macquarie, made a welcome return to the winner's brigade.
With a handy start that he enjoys immensely, but would rather his figures were of a little bit lesser, Peter won C-grade with his 30 points.
You can bet your bottom dollar that his two regular passengers (Stuart and Steve) on the drive home gave him plenty. Be assured my friends our Peter is no Devil nor Satan, no sirree!
There were some other good efforts with Graeme Irving, Greg Mayhew and Robert Johnston on 29, with Paul Dykes, Wayne Cooper, Graeme Dyet and Graheme Martin all a sole point back and getting their new ball courtesy of the countback.
Nearest the pin at the third hole went to Dyet (A) and Stringer (B), whilst at the par 3 11th hole it was Peter Hatton (A) and Steve Cameron (C) figuring this time.
Chip-ins, which gain points for the Club's B&B annual award, were performed by John Daley, Ray O'Brien, Michael Hinchcliffe, Stuart Aston, Hyland and Martin.
Tuesday's event is a 14-hole stroke for the August Monthly Medal and the usual putting rider is again in vogue. Thanks once again to the Kempsey Heights Bowling Club for sponsoring this competition.
Now next week is the long-awaited Stableford Multiplier and members have been well-warned by the president in his latest addresses for them to brush up (so to speak) on their times tables.
Remember fellows that 4 x 4 = 16 and 4 x 0 = 0 and not 4!
Visitors are welcome to take part and tee-off is 9.30am or just a wee bit beforehand, but a call to the Club on 65626291 would be most beneficial.
