Port's striker Roan 'Biggie' Whiteman has been recognised as one of the best finishers in the league this season but the in-form Troy Ward, along with the Rangers back-line as a whole, proved too strong of an opponent.
Evan Clarke was on fire for Rangers in the attacking third, scoring all three goals.
Clarke has hit a rich vein of form to end the season after troubling Taree with several shots last week without success.
"Evan was excellent, we played pretty well, it's the closest we've gone to a polished 90 minute performance this year," Rangers coach Chris Walker told the Argus.
"We created plenty of opportunities and held them out."
"I'm sure the crowd would've enjoyed what was a pretty good match."
After almost suffering a huge upset loss to Taree, Walker was delighted to see his team produce a much improved performance against the Port Macquarie side.
He was full of praise for his sides defence and their efforts to keep one of the competitions top-scorers goalless.
"Troy and the whole back-line played well, we tweaked our formation a little bit only half an hour before the game so the boys adjusted well and it paid off," Walker said.
Saturday's game was the first match in the restructured format where Rangers have kept a clean sheet.
Rangers will now have the bye next week before playing Kempsey in a local derby to end the 2020 season.
