Before the match Taree coach Ben Sedlen was confident his side could win their last two games after almost securing an upset against Macleay Valley Rangers the weekend before.

"That's the plan...win our last two games,'' Sedlen told the Manning River Times.

"If we can play that well again I'm confident we can win this week."

Their opponent, Kempsey Saints, travelled down the Pacific Highway to Taree with 14 players from their CPL squad unavailable and on Friday night only had eight available for reserve grade.

As always, the juniors for Saints stepped up with players as young as 15 - Nat Fletcher, Nick Charlton and Dylan Taylor - putting their hands up.

Saints' first grade were off to the perfect start as Cedric Blodorn scored a minute and a half into proceedings with a clever back heel chip.

"It was probably one of the quickest goals we've had in firsts," Saints coach Kevin Sinclair told the Argus.

Lethal striker Nick Wright then added another in the twenty minute mark.

Blodorn scored his brace in the second half to seal the game before tensions reached boiling point.

In the 85th minute, where four red cards were given to Taree for dissent with some of those cards given to players off the field.

Reports are that numerous yellow cards were given out as well.

Football Mid North Coast were contacted for comment by the Argus but have yet to receive a reply.

Saints reserve grade side were also successful, winning 6-2 against Taree.

"It was a bizarre game (first grade) from the get-go with the early goal and then events late in the match," Sinclair said.

"However it was great to come away with six points in total and see our juniors step up once again."
