Before the mid-week fixture, Saints sat on 19 points in fourth whilst the Yowies were in fifth on 18.

The first-half was a tight encounter as Saints went into the break with a 1-0 lead thanks to a Rhiannon McIntyre goal.

After the break Kempsey went on the attack with striker Tink Sneddon missing a close chance early on.

10 minutes into the second half, Liana Tyne saw herself with an opportunity to beat the keeper from a loose ball on the left side of the penalty area and duly found the back of the net.

Five minutes later Tyne went on one of her trademark runs down the left wing to double the scoreline with an excellent finish.

With the score at 3-0, Yowies did their best to work for a comeback and with a scramble in their attacking third Anna Lawrence managed to find the back of the net and peg the score back to 3-1.

A few minutes following however, Saints put the game out of reach as consistent goal-scorer Tink Sneddon found herself one-on-one with the opposition goalkeeper to make the final score 4-1.

Kempsey are now only one point behind Wauchope Cedars on the ladder who they will face this weekend to play off for that top three spot.

In other Women's Northern League action this Saturday, South West Rocks Stingers will be hoping to get their first win in three weeks against Camden Haven Redbacks whilst the Yowies play Macleay Valley Rangers in Willawarrin.

Lower Macleay Brumbies will host Western Phoenix in Gladstone at 1:15pm.
