It has been a challenging year to be in business with the combined impacts of drought, fire and coronavirus hitting our region hard.
Kempsey Shire Council's Economic and Development team has been working to support our business community as much as possible.
Over the past four months, staff have been providing direct contact with businesses, assistance in preparing and registering a COVID-19 Safety Plan, an online workshop program for agricultural businesses and referring businesses to appropriate government bodies for other assistance.
One of the free initiatives now offered as part of Small Business Month is a free scholarship program to mentor business owners. There are 16 places available for business owners to participate in three, one-hour online sessions with business experts from the MAP Institute.
The sessions will be delivered by video conference in a small group environment. Business owners from all sectors are eligible to apply.
Your business can be ready for growth or you may be a new business. Get in quick as registrations close on September 30.
TAFE NSW is also offering a free course for employees of local hotel and hospitality businesses to help them ensure that hygiene practices are understood to minimise the risk of spreading COVID-19.
There are 25 fully subsidised places available for the program which will be delivered online over a period of up to 4.5 hours. It will focus on personal hygiene practices necessary to maintain the health of each employee as well as your customers.
