Wauchope Jockey Club has had to abandon its race meeting on Saturday but with so many booked for the event the club is hoping to hold a phantom meeting to cater for the big line up of Sydney and interstate racing.

Unfortunately, only four riders were available for the meeting and Racing NSW had no alternative but to cancel.
Some races needed up to eight riders with nearly 30 acceptances for the proposed five-race card.

President of the club Greg Partridge and MNCRA steward Jack Penfold have conferred to try and have the phantom meeting.
A bookmaker has made her services available with the $15m Tab The Everest race, the richest in the world, being held at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
Greg said 200 people had booked to be at the meeting with the feature being in honour of past president of the Wauchope Leagues Club, Ged Roods.
At the time of going to press, Greg was still organising the possibility of catering for punters on course.
