The heavens may have opened up and brought down a shower but that wasn't enough to stop mountain bikers from the North Coast region kick into gear.

Saturday's event was a Back to Basic Cross Country with timing done by White Lightning Events. Sunday was run by White Lightning Events as part of the North Coast Enduro Series.
The Saturday saw a great turn out of cross country racers who don't mind playing in the mud.
"Cross country racers don't melt in the rain - the trails flowed great and had a mix of everything," Macleay Valley Mountain Bikers Club said on their Facebook.

Entries for the Back to Basics saw locals compete along with people from Bellingen, Port Macquarie and Taree amongst other locations.
Place getters on the Saturday were:
- Junior - 1st Darcey Cronin
- Adaptive - 1st Glen Clark
- E Bike - 1st Michelle Laird
- -2nd Dene Slater
- Female - 1st Sarah Nixon
- - 2nd Sharynn Edmunds
- Male - 1st Peter Ardetti
- - 2nd Graeme Roods
- - 3rd David Volkmer
Fastest lap award went to Pete Ardetti who received a prize pack from Crescent Head Cycles for his effort.
The North Coast enduro saw competitors from Coffs Harbour, Hastings Valley, Woolgoolga, Byron Bay, Kyogle, the Macleay Valley and other Northern Rivers areas.
The Macleay Valley had 17 entrants in total with the biggest field overall being the under 13s. The under 17s had a strong local presence with six of the seven participants from the Macleay Valley region.
Craig Hale, of Macleay Valley Mountain Bikers, said the youth numbers was usual for such an event.
"The young guys, they're amazing, they love the downhill format whilst us older guys are all for the cross country," he told the Argus.
"We've got a good mix of downhill and cross country tracks at the club and our social events promote the different formats to make it inclusive."
