The event was compliant with COVID sign in protocols with social-distancing requirements followed as people sat in the grandstand and around the grounds.
Entries for the meet were capped to 150 to ensure the crowd did not exceed the facility's capacity and hit the limit early forcing the race secretary to close the gates and allow the competition to begin.
The full program saw races from 25m to 1500m catering to first timers and seasoned veterans.
From the first starting signal racing was competitive with old rivalries rekindled and swimmers vying for championship and state qualifying times (as well as bragging rights).
Kempsey Swimming Club had a strong team in action including club captains, Jade MacLean and Max Farrell.
Despite the presence of rain the weather didn't dampen the enthusiasm on display and held off for most of the day.
Given that two North Coast carnivals in the past few weeks prior had been cancelled, the Kempsey Swimming Club were pleased to find a way to hold their meet in a COVID safe way.
It would not have been possible without the supports of club volunteers, parents and North Coast Swimming officials.
