According to the British Egg Information Service, the odds of getting a double yolk egg are 1 in 1000, while a triple is somewhere in the realm of 1 in 25 million.
"I was on the phone to my dad, and cooking up some breakfast, and then I cracked the egg and couldn't believe it, three yolks," Lachlan said.
"I've never heard of someone having a triple yolk egg before, let alone seen one, and I've been around chooks all my life.
"Leigh and I have spoken to a few people, a couple of older farmers, and they've never seen one before either."
Other than having three yolks, the egg looks the same as a regular one, and according to Lachlan, it tastes the same too.
"I just scoffed it down; the egg didn't taste any different to a normal one, there was just more yolk," he said.
"We just got five young hens, they're only a few months old and just started laying, but they've been giving us plenty of double yolk eggs, I think we have ourselves a nice little golden chook here."
The NSW Government's Liquor and Gaming website calculates the odds of winning the lotto jackpot prize with a single ticket at 1 in 9,483,167, far more likely than a triple yolk egg, which is precisely why Lachlan decided to try and beat the odds again.
"I've bought a lottery ticket, it's better odds to win the lotto than getting a triple yolker, so I figured why not," he said
"I wouldn't mind getting another triple yolk egg, but if I had to choose, I'd rather save my luck and win the lotto."
