The special pop up event included the inaugural Kempsey Stock & Land Open Challenge, with the winner being Erin Morgan of Yoorana Copper Acres.
"The challenge event involved dry work where you canter around, do a pattern before a judge and then it was linked to a cow section where you had to chase a cow in a figure 8," Laurie Argue, President of the Macleay Challenge Campdraft, told the Argus.
"The rest of the program consisted of camp-drafting."
Mr Argue described the weekend's event as excellent with visitors and locals delighted with proceedings.
"It was a very good weekend, we had a lot of positive feedback about the whole event, everyone was happy about the cattle run and very positive about the inaugural pattern event," he said.
"There was people from the Hunter Valley along with the Armidale area, Wingham, Taree, Grafton and further north coupled with a lot of local support."
COVID-19 restrictions had a small impact on the program and Mr Argue said future plans should see an increase in runs once circumstances return to normal.
"We've got a big event coming up in March that we're planning for, it'll be 1200 runs if everything is back to normal whereas on the weekend we only had 850 camp-draft runs," he explained.
Other winners from the weekend were:
- Erin Morgan (Ellygance beautique ladies camp-draft)
- Darcy Argue (Jakeiro Equibusiness Maiden Camp-draft)
- Michael McKeown (Kempsey Toyota Novice Draft)
- Brianna O'Donnell (Mavin Hino Junior Draft)
- Elisa Farawell (Mavin Hino Juvenile Draft)
- Cliff Lyon (Macleay Valley Ranch Open Camp-draft)
