During the festive season Macleay Valley Liquor Accord venues are offering 'free' soft drink to anyone who has nominated themselves to be the safe pair of hands.
The designated driver is a person who agrees not to drink any alcoholic beverages and to transport their mates home safely.
This coordinated program is based around the idea that mates look after mates and that by looking after the welfare of your mates you will ensure they get home safely.
How Does it Work?
A person will nominate themselves as the designated driver for their group on arrival at the licensed premises.
They are to let the bar staff know that they are the group's designated driver.
Bar staff will ask the designated driver to register, and issue them a wristband (this will be used by bar staff and security staff to identify them as the designated driver).
The designated driver is then entitled to free soft drinks for the duration of the time their friends are drinking by just showing their wristband to bar staff.
Participating venues include
Willawarrin Hotel, Macleay River Hotel, West Kempsey Hotel, Great Northern Hotel, SWR Riverside Tavern, Freddo Hotel, Seabreeze Beach Hotel, Kempsey Macleay RSL, South West Rocks Country Club, Crescent Head Tavern, Crescent Head Country Club, Heights Bowling Club, Hat Head Bowling Club, Heritage Hotel, Smithtown Riverview Hotel and many more.
