Coffs Coast Cricket Manager Jay Guthrie saw a need to reinvigorate cricket in the area and applied for a grant through the The Woolworths Community Fund - an initiative to provide opportunities for kids who face barriers to participating in the Woolworths Cricket Blast program.
"Bowraville is a great little community and a great opportunity for us to come in a deliver cricket to some kids that don't get the opportunity," he said.
"We applied for a grant through the Woolworths Community Fund and we were successful. (It's about) getting access to funds to deliver cricket for Indigenous communities and disabilities, and this school ticked all those boxes. It was a great opportunity to touch base with the school and they were more than happy to get us out here and play some cricket with the kids.
"We've got over 75 signups for the junior school, basically every kid - we couldn't keep them away."
Each week kids get the chance to learn skills and the rules of play from from the pros. All participants have also been gifted a coveted jersey with a unique Indigenous design, and a personal cricket kit.
Bowraville Central School principal Dave Taylor was keen to support the program.
In the past, cricket was huge. But in the past 15-20 years, it has dropped off a bit. The cricket nets down on the oval are hardly used. I'm excited to see cricket back.

"It just wouldn't happen without these sponsors. We can run a certain amount of physical activity at school, but it's not the same as bringing people in and bringing in experts with the equipment. The kids have just loved it. It's really important."
And the school's support has been appreciated.
"The school really understands the need to access skills and development that the kids wouldn't normally get. They see the need of getting kids active and once we started, every kid jumped in and wanted to be involved," Jay Guthrie said.
The Woolworths Cricket Blast program began on November 17 and will continue through the Summer until the end of term 1 - marvellous!
