A 17-year-old male was airlifted to hospital on Wednesday evening after suffering from suspected spinal injuries at Little Nobby, Crescent Head.
NSW Ambulance crews were called to the scene around 5.30pm following reports a teenager had been pulled from the ocean unconscious by friends after diving into the water from lower rocks on the headland.
A NSW Ambulance spokesperson told the Argus the patient likely struck an underwater rock when diving into the water.
The patient was conscious when ambulance crews arrived and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called in to assist.
The 17-year-old was winched to safety by the Rescue Helicopter and airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
SES crews, Police and Surf Lifesavers also attended the scene.
