One of the many events that was sacrificed last year was council's program of Community Catch-ups. The Catch-ups involve councillors and senior council staff out setting a date to engage with the community through meetings, inspecting sites of interest, answering questions and building relationships.

Well they are back. The schedule for the 2021 catch-ups has now been locked in, and it kicks off in Stuarts Point in March.
The dates are:
- 25 March - Stuarts Point
- 21 April - Frederickton
- 6 May - Kempsey
- 1 July - Gladstone and Smithtown
- 4 November - South West Rocks
- 2 December - Willawarrin
The format for the days will be the same in each location:
- 3.30-4.30pm - Site visits
- 3-5pm - Community information tables
- 5-7pm - Community Catch-up
These events are designed to provide an opportunity for the community to get answers to specific questions and to request a site-specific visit with councillors and the council's executive leadership team. There will also be information available on council services and projects and the opportunity to participate in engagement activities on particular projects and planning initiatives relevant to each location.
So please mark the date for the catch-up nearest to you and I hope to see you there.
A new community facility
I was delighted to attend the official opening of My Community Project - Connecting Empowering Families and Youth project and to be asked to open My Church's new Children's Building on Saturday 13 February.
The project provides an undercover area for young people and a storage shed for emergency food and clothing relief provided by iCare and Global Care.
My Church was Highly Commended in the 2021 Australia Day, Community Group and the work they do is amazing.
