FMNC general manager Bruce Potter said the follows consultation with local councils.
"It is obvious that many of our grounds will not be playable for a number of weeks,'' Mr Potter said.
"We are taking the opportunity to move our northern and southern community competitions start date, back to the weekend of May 8 to enable essential ground maintenance and hopefully allow a limited pre-season.
"To achieve this, community grand final day will be moved back one week, to the weekend of September 18 and finals will be reduced to a top four in each division. There is no reduction in the length of the community season.''
However, Mr Potter said the Coastal Premier League (CPL) season will start as scheduled. He said games games can be transferred to North Coast Football where grounds remain largely playable.
Football Mid North Coast will provide more information next week and release a revised season calendar.
"This will allow clubs an additional two weeks to nominate teams,'' he said.
Mr Potter added the zone's office at Telegraph Point was severely affected by flood water.
"Fortunately all staff are safe and well and all our data and software is cloud-based with no interruption to service,'' he explained.
