The team took out the Reserve Champion steer in the Sydney Royal Woolworths trade competition with Teddy, a Charolias/Angus cross Limousin.
The steer was bred by Gavin and Emily Saul, with the students preparing him for the show over the past 150 days.
"Both of the steers we took to the show were prepared by the students and chosen by them, so it was good from an educational point to see how they went," Agriculture teacher Gavin Saul said.
Freya Weismantel and Ellie Prior also came away with some impressive results in the Beef Cattle Young Judges Competition.
"They were up against 19 competitors and the top 10 were chosen to go through to the oral round," Mr Saul said.
"Both girls went through to the oral round, with Ellie placing third and Freya taking out Reserve Champion which was a really good result.
"We did a lot of education around it and made sure they were both confident, but overall we wanted them to enjoy the opportunity to compete at a state level because it isn't easy.
"They really celebrated it as a duo and supported each other in the competition."
The students also gained experience in the paraders' competition in Sydney.
"It was really tough competition in the paraders' section, but they were able to walk away with an understanding of what it's like to be at state level and it will help them prepare for the next time," Mr Saul said.
"I'm more than proud of them and how they went down in Sydney, it was a really great experience for them."
Local farmers interested in having the opportunity for students to take on a steer or heifer for MSA specification analysis are encouraged to contact Gavin on 0408 668 312.
