The Hat Head play space project will include a new playground suitable to all ages and abilities, picnic and barbeque area, landscaping, and tree planting for natural shade.
Kempsey Shire Council will partner with the NSW Government for the $215,088 project after being granted $107 544 as one of 37 projects across NSW as a part of the NSW Government's Everyone Can Play Program (ECP) grant program.
Kempsey Shire Mayor Liz Campbell said the play space is a great resource for a wonderful community.
"I'd like to thank the NSW Government for their support in providing this new play space, which I'm sure will guarantee that Hat Head Reserve remains a much-loved community space for many years to come," she said.
"We can't wait for the new community space to be open and for available for everyone in Hat Head. Inclusive and accessible play spaces are a fantastic way to encourage people of all ages and abilities to get outside, play and stay active."
Member for Oxley Melinda Pavey said play spaces were a key community asset that brought the people together in a fun and welcoming environment.
"Great public spaces are essential infrastructure for any city or town," Ms Pavey said.
"Creating inclusive play spaces give people in our community and visitors alike, no matter their age, a place to come and relax and play."
