The festival officially launched on Tuesday morning at the Slim Dusty Centre with a morning tea and welcome speech by Mayor Liz Campbell.
"The 2021 theme for Seniors Week is 'In our Nature' and a lot of events on our program this year are nature-based," Mayor Campbell said.
"I'm so proud of council continuing to have events and activities for Seniors Week."
A group of around 20 people joined Mayor Campbell for a morning tea at the Slim Dusty Centre before viewing the Black Summer and Beyond Photo Exhibition.
"This event is one way to bring the community together and many seniors in our community helped and volunteered their time during the bushfires and the recent flood," Mayor Campbell said.
The Macleay Seniors Festival is not just about celebrating the contribution that seniors make to our vibrant community but also a demonstration of opportunities available to seniors throughout the Macleay Valley to increase their enjoyment of life and activities.
Hosted by local groups and organisations, the 2021 Macleay Seniors Festival has something for everyone, including those with restrictions on mobility
The Seniors Festival will be 12 days filled to the brim with events and activities across the Macleay.
"I hope everyone will enjoy the events organised for the community and I hope everyone has a happy week," Mayor Campbell said.
